Rampant Reds Demolish Leeds 6-1, Salah and Jota Star in Goal Fest

Liverpool 6-1 victory against Leeds

Leeds United gained an unwanted record, conceding 5+ goals in a second successive home match, for the first time in Premier League (PL) history, as Liverpool dismantled their hosts 6-1 at Elland Road. Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota both struck twice, ending the Reds’ five-match winless run with a bang.

Initially, Leeds tried a counter-attacking approach, aiming to bounce back from their heavy defeat against Crystal Palace. Despite an early chance for Rodrigo, Liverpool soon took control of the match, dominating possession and eventually finding their rhythm. Cody Gakpo and Salah scored in quick succession before halftime, setting the tone for the Reds’ dominant performance.

Leeds briefly found hope after the break, as Luis Sinisterra capitalized on Ibrahima Konaté’s heavy touch to score. However, Liverpool swiftly responded, with Curtis Jones setting up Jota for his first goal in 32 matches. The Reds continued their relentless assault, with Salah netting his second and Jota adding a brace of his own.

A helpless Illan Meslier in Leeds’ goal could only watch as Liverpool added a sixth, with substitute Darwin Núñez completing the rout in the 90th minute. This crushing defeat leaves Leeds mired in a relegation battle, just two points above the drop zone.

For Liverpool, this emphatic victory marks a return to form and a timely reminder of their attacking prowess. Salah and Jota’s outstanding performances will be crucial as the Reds look to climb back up the PL table in the coming weeks.
