Manchester United secured their tenth successive victory against Nottingham Forest with a well-earned 2-0 win at the City Ground, further cementing their top-four position. In contrast, the defeat leaves Forest deeper in relegation trouble.
Both sides traded early blows in a frantic start, but it was Manchester United who settled quicker. Bruno Fernandes nearly scored, only for Keylor Navas to make an excellent save. Forest found their rhythm and came close to scoring when Scott McKenna’s effort hit the post.
Forest’s missed opportunity was soon punished as Anthony Martial’s shot was tapped home by Antony, putting Manchester United ahead. The hosts fought back, and Taiwo Awoniyi almost equalized before the break, but his effort was off-target.
United returned from half-time reinvigorated, with Fernandes coming close to scoring again, only for Navas to make another stunning save. United’s pressure continued to build, and despite Forest’s resilience, Antony turned provider for Diogo Dalot to score on his 100th Manchester United appearance, sealing the victory.
Although Fernandes came close to adding a third, the match finished 2-0, leaving Forest to focus on their battle against relegation. On the other hand, Manchester United’s victory, combined with Tottenham and Newcastle’s losses, put them in an even stronger position in the top-four race.
